STAFF PICKS: WHAT WE’RE VAPING AT VS HQ

At Vape Superstore, we like to think we’re pretty knowledgeable about what we do. First and foremost, we’re a bunch of ex-smokers who used vaping to quit a habit we didn’t want to have anymore. Everyone on the team is a vaper and throughout the years we’ve all tried a whole lot of kits, with each of us have slightly different tastes and preferences. When it comes to vaping, choosing something that’s just right for you is important. The same applies to your e-liquid. With new flavours and brands hitting our shelves every week we’re always trying the latest (and sharing with each other) so we’ve included our favourites there too.
DAN: DIGITAL MANAGER
Dan is the man behind the scenes of the Vape Superstore website, making sure everything is running smoothly. He’s been with us for a year and a half now but has been vaping for three and a half. He started off his vaping journey with a Kanger mouth to lung kit, went to a SMOK Sub Ohm variable wattage kit and has settled on the Lostvape Orion DNA.
Like many of us, he used to have a box mod for when he was at home or at work and a pod kit for when he went out (it’s more pocket friendly after all) but after heading off on holiday with just his pod kit, he decided to stick with just the one vape (it’s that good).
LOSTVAPE - ORION DNA
The Orion DNA packs in all the features Dan was used to having in a bigger kit while being a lot more convenient to carry around. You can do everything from adjusting the airflow to wattage and the pods still hold a full 2mls of e-liquid the same way a larger kit would. The internal 950mAh battery lasts a long time, even on higher wattage settings.
With up to 40 watts of output and pods that are suitable for a restricted direct to lung or a mouth to lung inhale it works for a range of vaping preferences. If you prefer a 1.0ohm coil, you can add a firmware update to make it compatible with the Orion Q pods too. Otherwise, you can choose from either a 0.25ohm or 0.5ohm pod. When it comes to e-liquid choice you can use just about anything too - just pair it with the right resistance pod. The 0.25ohm resistance is ideal for 50:50 liquids up to a 70:30 VG:PG ratio for more clouds. If you’d rather use nic salts, the 1.0ohm or 0.5ohm (on a lower wattage) both work great for a stronger hit.
JACK RABBIT - BANOFFEE PIE NIC SALTS
Dan’s pick to pair with his Orion is the nic salt range from Jack Rabbit. You can’t really go wrong with any of their liquids but his personal choice would be Banoffee Pie, a classic rich dessert vape with banana, caramel and cream. If fruit is more your thing, Rio is a tropical treat jam packed with exotic flavours of pineapple, mango, papaya and coconut. (You can get both of these flavours in a shortfill too).
PAUL: CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER
Paul is in charge of making sure every order that leaves our warehouse is just right. From making sure you get your vape juice and coils on time, to making sure that little bag of Haribo makes it into every parcel. He’s been vaping for around 4 years now and has worked for Vape Superstore since day one. As you can imagine, he’s worked his way through quite a few kits over the years but the one he’s currently always got on him is the SMOK Mico.
SMOK - MICO POD
The Mico is one of the smallest pod kits you can get these days and Paul takes it as his go-to for nights out because of how easily it slips into your pocket. You don’t need to take extra liquid with you either if you don’t want to. Paul will fill up two pods (in different flavours if he’s feeling fancy) and click one into the Mico and keep another in his pocket. The pods fit into the kit with a powerful magnet and refilling is simple too, just pop open the rubber bung on the side and pour in your juice. They’re air tight enough that even if you have a loose one in your pocket, you won’t end up with leaks or sticky fingers. Another bonus about the pods is you have a few resistance levels to choose from, ranging from a mesh 0.8ohm through to a 1.0ohm and 1.2ohm option for a more restricted draw.
OHM BOY - RHUBARB, RASPBERRY, ORANGE BLOSSOM
Because Paul’s always unpacking the new stock we get in, he’s also the first to see the new flavours as soon as they arrive. The most recent arrival he’s been vaping is the nic salt range from Ohm Boy, his current pick of the bunch is the Rhubarb, Raspberry, Orange Blossom nic salt.
CLAIRE: COPYWRITING EXECUTIVE
Claire is the one in the office writing all about the products you see on the Vape Superstore website. She’s been in the office for a little over a year and has been vaping for two. She started out with a rainbow kit from Vaporesso and has tried a few more out since then but one of her top picks these days is the Aspire Tigon.
ASPIRE - TIGON
There are a lot of pen vapes around these days but the Tigon ticks a lot of boxes that others don’t. It works for mouth to lung vaping and Sub Ohm vaping (meaning more options when it comes to nicotine strength and VG:PG ratio) and has airflow settings for both vaping styles. It’s also an incredibly low maintenance option too. While she also enjoys a bigger vape too, the Tigon makes for the most simple coil changing with plug-pull coils. Just open up the base of the tank, pull the old one out and put the new one in. The fact there’s a sleeve that prevents e-liquid leaks when you’ve got the tank open also means that if your coil burns out mid-tank you don’t need to waste any of your favourite flavour. Also, it’s rainbow (but you can get other colours too).
SKWEZED - MANGO
When it comes to juice flavour, Claire loves a fruity option. She started off with fruit and nothing has really changed in the two years since she started. Her current go-to is Mango from Skwezed, a single note super tropical juice that’s just the right balance between powerful flavour and plenty of cloud
There’s a whole bunch of us working (and puffing away) at VS HQ - so keep an eye out for next month with more recommendations from more of the team.
