OXVA SlimStick Pod Kit Review: Cig-Like Design Meets All-Day Power

We’re delighted to review one of OXVA’s most distinctive releases to date: the OXVA SlimStick Prefilled Pod Kit. Designed to feel immediately familiar to smokers, this slim, rectangular device revives the cig-a-like concept, but modernises it with strong battery life, mesh coil technology, and intuitive feedback features.

Over the last seven days, I’ve used the SlimStick as my primary device, from desk vaping to nights out, to see how it holds up in real-world use.

Build & Design

Weighing in at a mere 58g, the OXVA SlimStick is a light and compact prefilled pod kit that works alongside the OXVA SlimStick refill sticks. It fits in the palm of your hand perfectly. Without the stick inserted, your hand would completely conceal the device. When the stick is in, however, it does protrude a tad, revealing a cigarette-like shape that doubles up as the kit's mouthpiece.

Crafted from aluminium alloy, the SlimStick is extremely robust, which, for someone as clumsy as myself, is a key requirement. It also feels extremely comfortable and luxurious to touch; it is silky smooth.

The OXVA slimstick pods are reminiscent of a cig-a-like, but are instead half the size.

The bottom half of the pods is colour-matched to the flavour that they are. The flavour is also imprinted on them alongside the strength of the pod. There is a silver sticker stuck on before the white mouthpiece appears. Magnetic pins are at the bottom of the pods and click in seamlessly with extreme grip.

To finish off the design, the SlimStick is engraved with the OXVA logo and model of the kit, ‘Slimstick’. What a design!

How Does It Work?

You might be wondering how it works. The good news is, getting started is extremely simple.

Battery, Charging & Performance

Integrated within the SlimStick is a 1500mAh battery, which, to me, was a shock considering how thin and compact this device is.

I used this kit for just over a week, and the battery alone would quite easily last up to 48 hours of usage before I needed to recharge the device.

I took this kit on a few nights out, mainly due to its portability factor and design, to be fair, not even considering the battery life. I can happily admit the battery lasted the two nights, but unfortunately, due to my chain-vaping antics, the 2ml included pod didn’t quite stretch both nights, which was a shame, but luckily for me, I had a spare pod, so it wasn't all doom and gloom.

I guess a potential drawback would be the time it takes to charge this prefilled pod kit. If you allow the kit to become fully depleted of power before you charge the device, it will take two hours (est.) to get back up and running.

Flavour & Vapour Production

The OXVA SlimStick Prefilled Pod Kit is available in six flavours and six corresponding colours. Five of them are fruity flavours, great for users after great-tasting nicotine salt e-liquids, as OXVA is often highly praised for its flavour profiles. They didn’t just leave it there, because the sixth and final flavour of the range is Mint, which, again, is a key flavour needed in all ranges, especially for vapers who prefer a similar experience to smoking menthol cigarettes.

After trying all six from the range, here are my three standout choices.

My Favourite

Watermelon

I really enjoyed this flavour thoroughly; it was sweet and kind of reminded me of watermelon slices, which is my favourite candy. Most watermelon flavours on the market, especially in prefilled format, normally contain the addition of ice, and this didn't, so that was quite refreshing (not literally).

One That Surprised Me

Blueberry

I’m never normally into blueberry flavours, typically, as I normally enjoy quite a lot going on when it comes to flavouring; however, this blueberry flavour was quite punchy this time round. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what OXVA did differently here, but it worked.

One Flavour That May Split Opinion

Lychee Ice

Lychee e-liquids, in general, I feel can be a bit of a hit and miss situation in general. I often find lychee flavours in vaping form can taste a bit like purple violets, which again is similar to how people feel about, say, Marmite. It’s a love or hate type of flavour. I’d say it’s worth getting it a shot, nonetheless.

Nicotine Salts in 20mg

The OXVA Slimstick Prefilled Pod Kit is filled with 20mg of nicotine salt e-liquid, which is commonly found in a large majority of prefilled kits on the market today. Nicotine salts deliver a smooth experience and work to satisfy nicotine cravings almost immediately, which is especially ideal for newbies trying to kick the habit.

From personal experience, I would say nicotine salts are a large part and parcel of the reason I was able to quit cigarettes.

Who’s It For?

The OXVA Slimstick Prefilled Pod Kit, I would say, is great for all types of vapers. It is incredibly easy to use and features no fiddly settings or buttons; it’s as simple as inserting the pod vaping and then charging. It’s also extremely portable and lightweight, so it doubles up as a great backup kit for even an advanced user for nights out or holidays away.

If you’re as old as I am and remember the cig-a-like kits (the first type of e-cigarettes sold within the UK), the SlimStick is a great upgraded replacement for this. Even if it’s just for nostalgic reasons, the SlimStick serves a purpose.

My Verdict

We have reached the end of the review, and I guess now would be the time when the jury (me) stands and closes out the trial. So is the SlimStick guilty or not guilty for being an exciting new release? It’s absolutely guilty! I feel we need something a little different now and then added to the vaping market, as it can often become oversaturated with the same kit again and again.

It’s fitted with a 1500mAh battery, features LED indicators and vibration feedback, and I think it’s obvious to say, but the SlimStick’s design is innovative and nostalgic all at the same time; it blends old with new perfectly.
