A pod kit or MTL starter kit is the best starting point for most beginners, especially if you are switching from cigarettes or disposables. They are simple to use, require very little setup and work well with nic salts and 50/50 e-liquids. Sub-ohm kits are better suited to experienced vapers because they produce more vapour and are usually used with lower nicotine strengths.

Prefilled pod kits are the easiest switch if you want a familiar draw, bold flavours and no manual refilling. Refillable pod kits are a better option if you want more flavour choice and lower ongoing costs, as you can use bottled e-liquid and replace the pod or coil when needed. Refillable vape kits are filled with bottled e-liquid, giving you more choice over flavour, nicotine strength and e-liquid type. Prefilled vape kits use ready-filled pods or cartridges, making them simpler to use with no manual refilling or coil changes.

MTL vaping gives a tighter, cigarette-style draw and is common with pod kits, starter kits using nic salts and 50/50 e-liquids. RDTL vaping is slightly airier and produces more vapour while still feeling controlled. DTL vaping uses more airflow and higher power for bigger clouds, usually with high VG e-liquids and lower nicotine strengths.

The right e-liquid depends on your kit and coil resistance. Pod kits, vape pens and MTL devices usually work best with nic salts or 50/50 e-liquids. Sub-ohm kits and lower-resistance coils are better suited to high VG e-liquids and shortfills.

Replace your pod or coil when flavour fades, vapour production drops or the coil starts to taste burnt. How often you need a replacement depends on how much you vape, the e-liquid you use and the type of pod or coil in your kit.

We would only recommend sub-ohm kits for experienced vapers. They use lower-resistance coils, higher power and more airflow to produce bigger clouds, and are normally used with lower nicotine strengths and high VG e-liquids. Beginners will usually find pod kits, vape pens or MTL starter kits easier to use.
