The Ploom Aura Starter Kit is a device which heats tobacco instead of burning it, which helps to reduce exposure to harmful chemicals found in smoke. This device is commonly referred to as a heated tobacco device. It's ideal for ex-smokers who are looking for a cleaner way to satisfy their nicotine cravings without compromising the earthy, robust taste of cigarettes. The Ploom Aura features Optimised HeatFlow Technology, which helps to deliver optimal flavour from the tobacco stick without burning it. You can get up to 27 sticks from one charge using the battery saver function.

Fitted within the Ploom Aura device is a 1975mAh battery, which takes just 25 seconds to heat up, and when it begins to run out of energy, it can be recharged via the kit's included fast charging Type-C cable. You can expect it to last up to the use of roughly 20 cigarettes, depending on your power settings, with each session lasting up to 5 minutes.

You can also connect your Ploom Aura to your smartphone through Bluetooth connectivity, which enables you to monitor the battery charge, access four Heat Select power modes, security features and use Device Radar to track your device if it's misplaced.

Getting started with the Ploom Aura is relatively simple. Firstly, all you need to do is plug it in with the Type-C cable to wake it up. Once the device is charged, open the slider and insert an EVO stick. The stick will heat up automatically in 25 seconds, and you should feel it vibrate twice before you can then enjoy a five-minute session. The device also includes cleaning sticks, which should be used to clean the oven out on a monthly basis or when inserting a stick feels difficult.

The Ploom Aura Starter Kit is compatible with the existing range of Ploom EVO sticks, which are available in 9 tobacco blends which have been expertly cut to provide an enhanced taste experience.

Heated, Not Burned

Smart HeatFlow is the heating system behind the Ploom Aura, and it's an upgrade on the technology used in earlier Ploom devices. It warms the EVO stick from the outside rather than burning it, so you get a true tobacco taste with no smoke and no ash.

The heating chamber is ribbed, and the stick is gently compressed as it goes in. That lets air flow all the way round it, which cuts down on charring and keeps the taste steady from the first puff to the last. There's no heating blade pushed into the stick either, so there's nothing to snap and far less to clean.

Ready In 25 Seconds

Fitted inside the Ploom Aura Starter Kit is a 1975mAh battery. It heats a stick in 25 seconds on every mode apart from Intense, which takes 30. You then get five minutes of unlimited puffs on the default Balanced setting, so there's no puff count to keep track of.

Charge using the included USB-C cable. A full charge from flat takes about three hours, but 90 minutes gets you back to around 15 sticks. So a top-up while you're at your desk or on the drive home is usually enough to see out the day.

Find Your Device, Lock It, Change The Power

Pair the Ploom Aura with the Ploom app over Bluetooth and you get a bit more control over it. You can check the battery level, set a lock so it doesn't fire in your pocket, find the device if it's nearby but you can't see it, and switch between the four heating modes.

Each mode changes the session length, the strength of the taste, and how many sticks you get from a charge. Balanced is the default, and it's the one most people stay on. Worth knowing: you need to pick your mode before you put a stick in, as it can't be changed mid-session.

Intense: 30 second pre-heat, 3 minute session, strongest taste, around 25 sticks per charge
Balanced: 25 second pre-heat, 5 minute session, standard taste, around 20 sticks per charge (default)
Delicate: 25 second pre-heat, 6 minute session, milder and longer, around 19 sticks per charge
Battery Saver: 25 second pre-heat, 3 minute session, longest battery life, around 27 sticks per charge

Less Smell On Your Clothes And Breath

The Ploom Aura heats tobacco instead of burning it. That gives you a true tobacco taste with no smoke or ash, and far less smell on your clothes, hair and breath.

No Loose Tobacco In Your Device

The EVO sticks used with the Ploom Aura have CleanSeal, a barrier that stops loose tobacco dropping into the heating chamber. So there's no tapping out debris after every stick.

Ploom suggests cleaining once a month, or sooner if a stick starts feeling tight going in. Cleaning sticks come in the box, and the job takes a minute. Take off the front panel, dampen a cleaning stick, open the slider and wipe round the inside of the chamber.

The Ploom Aura is compatible with the full range of the existing EVO sticks, which come in a range of 9 different tobacco blends that have been expertly designed to provide optimal flavour and minimal vapour production.
